20 Year Old Tawny Port by Taylor Fladgate

Post by Todd Pettinger »

Taylor Fladgate 20 Year Tawny Port [NV]

Bottled in 2006

Fading traces of ruby in the colour, this Port is dominated by browns and oranges.

Nose of toffee and spirit. This Tawny is a bit raw and hot on the palate in the first day or so after being opened, but appears perfect to my taste after two days of air.

Toffee, caramel, vanilla and figs on the palate with a bit of spicy zip. Smooth and balanced, this is the perfect compromise between price and quality for the Taylor Tawny range. While I prefer the 30 and 40 years old blends, their prices can get a bit outrageous and this one is the better QPR.

$38 well spent and drank over a 3 night period. loads of pecans, orange peel & apricots. 2nd & 3rd night started showing more carmel, figs & brown sugar. perfectly balanced with no detectable heat(20% too!).
