1988 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port
This things was black as night when I first decanted it, I couldn’t believe how young it looked. 1988 wasn’t the best of vintages, but you would not know it by the color in this one. Massive young dark plums and blackberries on the nose was my first indication on how young this was probably going to show. Still so tannic on the palate with solid structure that made the mouth pucker. Gobs of young black fruit grabbed a hold of my palate and it just exploded into the most wonderfullist sensation. A long tannic finish continued to excite the palate and I was amazed at how well this did from a year generally regarded as poor across the board. 92-93 points. 12/27/08

For how long did you left it openend before to drink it? Did you decanted it?

It was decanted 7 hours. I just finished the left overs about 20 minutes ago, which wasn't much more than a glass and it was still holding about the same. A very nice bottle for what was otherwise a poor year.

Excellant. I hope your bottle shows as well as mine did. When you crack it, let us know how it was.
