1970 Robertson’s Rebello Valente Vintage Port:
Showing lots of age in the color I was a bit worried about this one. I’ve had an ’83 that was average at best, so I was very curious to see how this would do. The nose was fully aged with some very sexy rose pedals, white cherries, lavender, cinnamon, and spices. A bit lean at first, this hits its full stride at about 9 hours after decanting. Lots of spices and delecate cherries on a smooth body that was hard to set down. This was a very elegant port, not a school yard bully, but a shy cute girl that was just waiting to show what she had to offer. A wonderful surprise of the night from a producer rarely seen or talked about. 93 points. 12/27/08
