I found a place not too close to my house, but certainly within a short drive that has Niepoort Twisted for $17.00.

Is this a decent price? They did not state what vintage, but have a few cases for sale.

Any recent TN's?

Here is a recent note on the 2006, check HERE
I think I paid $16 for mine. It's a good QPR for a daily drinker that won't break the bank.

Just for discussion sake, how do you feel this compares to the Vertente by Niepoort or the regular bottling of Quinta do Crasto Douro red?

I liked this a shade better than the Vertente, but only against a young Vertente. I don't see the Twisted as having much, if any, good aging ability. Where the Vertente is quite good as it ages and some of the complexity comes out in it a couple of years later. But the price isn't that great between them, with the Vertente hovering around the $20-21 range last I bought it and the Twisted at about $16-17. So for a few dollars more I would probably buy the Vertente and skip the Twisted.

As to the Crasto Douro, I do prefer it instead. This has always been a consistant bottle over the years and has better body, complexity, and finish than the Twisted. All that for a bottle that costs the same or less than the Twisted, again I'd skip the Twisted and grab the Crasto. The Crasto Douro is still IMO one of the top inexpensive Douro dry wines you can get.
