2009 Port Gala
Friday, January 30th, Colheita tasting
Flight 1 - 1934 Niepoort, 1937 Kopke, 1941 Moreira

1941 Moreira Colheita
bottled in 2000

A medium dark tawny color in the glass that's taking on a brown tone. There's still some red left, but not much.

Citrus and hints of Madeira on the nose. Late developing aroma of angelfood cake.

Quite dry for a Colheita, with some lime and a good amount of heat. Caramel notes, but toasted instead of buttery smooth.

I've had a few of the different Moreira Colheita's now and I've never been wow'd by them. IMO, when you factor in the price they are a decent QPR but they have never shown the stuffing to be anything but average at best.

I am 100% in agreement with Andy. The 1966 being an exception, but it must decant for 2 weeks to even show well. There are just too many other great bottles out there!
