1986 Warre's LBV Port

Had this at the end of the evening after some excellent wines, including a '75 Rioja and a '71 Auslese.
This port was remarkably rich and intense, full of flavour and richness. I didn't take any notes that evening but after 48 hours in the decanter the port was still alive and beautiful.
Colour still fairly intense for it's age but with a brick red core and a pale rim.
Lots of interest on the nose even after 48 hours. All the spiritiness was gone, it was sweet, fragrant and floral, with cherry, tobacco and cedar.
Lots of sweet fruit, a hint of oak, some minerality, and a ripe, furry finish.
In a nutshell, a delicious, full-bodied LBV at it's peak with plenty of life left in it.
Cheers.....................Mahmoud.
PS to Roy: We also had the 1999 Zenato Ripassa that is one of my partner's favourite. You served the same wine at the pizza place after the recent 1994 Port tasting in Edmonton. The bottle you served was deliciously mature. So we were surprised to find that the bottle we opened was still fairly young, with the structure and balance to age for a good many years.
