1970 Taylor’s Vintage Port
Drank on 09 October 2008 at The Bell offline. No bricking on this youthful looking Port. A few sniffs showed delicate red fruits, marzipan and fine herbs. The palate was serious stuff, with power, restrained sweetness and a long length. There was a hint of alcohol on the finish, but this would probably have integrated with a touch ore decanting time. This complete Port was truly excellent and I was surprised when it was revealed. The 1970 Taylors is one of my favourite Ports of all time, but none of the bottles I have drunk over the past ten years have ever showed this young. Again, Derek assured me of its impeccable provenance and this explained why, so thank you! 94/100.
