This is probably opening one too young but it is just fabulous. Not too much heat. Anise, fresh pastry dough on the nose. Lots of ripe berry fruit. A gentle mouth feel, lots of blackberry cobbler with cinnamon, clove , allspice flavors on the midpalate, long finish. If I have to give points, 93 . It is smooth and balanced now but--- Many years to go!

Ferreira is one of those under-rated Port names that has the historical backing but often times, people pass it up because it is not Noval, Fonseca, Graham's Taylor, Dow etc. I have always been a fan of the Ferreira style and love when they turn about 30 years old and gain those really nicely mature and developed nuances. For some reason, Ferreira VPs tend to hang onto a plateau much longer then they would appear to be able to achieve. I am rarely disappointed by any of their really old ones and enjoy them young too, as they make Ports with finesse.

Thanks for your impression Richard. :winepour:
