For The Love Of Port

I will put together a more formal tasting note as I did write a solid paragraph or so last weekend. This was poured by Cristiano and I must say, it was an impressive white DOC wine. I wish I had remembered to ask him the price though.

I'm excited to see more and more top end whites coming from the Douro. I've had a few in the past month that were excellant whites at really good prices. I can't wait to try this one as Cristiano and Sandra T. are a very good wine making team.

I will be interested to see what folks have to say about the Kopke white that was released. I find it really solid and every bit as good as this bottling. The Crasto is also solid and we know the Niepoort whites are really very good too. I am so happy that we are finally seeing such improvement in the white wines of the Douro. Although the reds have been solid for quite a few years now, the whites were almost non-existant as recently as 2000. I am sure that Real Companhia Velha was making some at that time, but not sure of anyone else. Things are developing quickly in the Douro and it is a ton of fun to watch this happening!
