I chilled my Douro red.....nice!

There are quite a few red wines coming out of the Douro, primarily made from younger vines, that I believe could be chilled so here is a nice effort.

TN: `06 Tuga Vinho Tinto Douro, Vinhos Douro Superior.

The front label proudly states " Tuga, the Passion of Portugal". Thats it!!
13% alc, $17 Cdn, very small natural cork, served slightly chilled. A blend of T. Roriz, T. Franco, T. Barroca, Touriga Nacional.
This is the same outfit that produces the excellent Castello d`Alba wines.

Color. Deepish ruby-red, quite an intense centre.

Nose. Lotsa red fruits, floral, some spice. Nice and appealing.

Palate. Initial entry thoughts are blueberry, pepper, soft, jammy. Low tannins, medium-bodied, subtle. Splendid quaffer served chilled, as it opens raspberry, redcurrant. Tinge of ripeness here, perfect for the patio and lamb kebabs. I allowed the wine to warm to room temp and found it quite dusty on the finish. Buy if you can find!

Wow, there's a blast from the past. Hey Bob, thanks for dropping in! :hello:

I've never had nor seen this bottling for sale. Do they carry this at deVines?

If you wouldn't mind humoring me for a moment ... what did you find was better about the Douro red when chilled? Curious minds would like to know.

In all seriousness, thanks for coming back to see your friends here.

Cheers. :winepour:

Hi Roy.

I lurk here a lot but have been busy past 2 months doing Breeding Bird Survey routes. Have more wine from Portugal, and hence DeVines, than I have time to drink!!
Bringing up to room temp, I noticed the finish filled out a little. It was quite juicy throughout the tempo changes.
