In search of H & H 15-year Verdelho

Hello all,

I'm searching for a U.S. source for Henriques & Henriques 15-year Verdelho Madeira. I had some a couple of years ago, having bought it from WineBid. I found one place on Wine Searcher, but they say they have a low stock. Is anyone aware of another retailer, or possibly the importer, of this wine?

Thanks very much.
John Danza

Could've sworn that Martignetti's in Brighton, MA has it.

I'll have to check this weekend. Is that the store on Soldiers Field Road?

I checked at Marty's for 10 and 15 year old, but they had no H&H at all. The man in the store took my name and telephone number and said he would check.

In my limited experience (mostly Florida and some of Virginia and D.C.) I've only seen H&H in D.C. at Schneider's of Capitol Hill, but that was almost a year ago now. I remember finding the 15 y.o. Malmsey and Sercial, but don't remember if they had the Verdelho. I thought their Malmsey was very nice and would like to try the Verdelho if I get the chance. I'm not sure who the importer is, but would also like to know.

Yes, that is the one. I know they had the H&H 10 and more. I bought the 10 and was not as fond of it as Broadbent or Leacocks.

I have had the H&H 10 year bual and sercial. The bual was unremarkable. I really liked the sercial. I'm looking for sercial and verdelho.

Martignetti's has no H&H and is unlikely to get any. If it's not from MWC, they don't have it. They don't have and are unlikely to get any sercial or verdelho over five years old. Bad economy, ignorant customers, etc. Extending the sales tax to alcohol doesn't help either. At least I was able to get JJ Prum, Zilliken, and Maximin Grunhauser 2006 and 2007 kabinetts for 20% discount, so it was not a wasted trip.

John,

I am going to hit Wine Searcher and see what I can find there.

I was just going to post that I was mistaken on my previous post. It was Cossart Gordon, not H&H I was thinking about... Sorry. [dash1.gif]

My impression from discussions at both Martignetti's and Marty's is that importation of madeira, except MWC, is a very irregular process, and every time that they do it, it's a unique event. In neither store did the people seem to know where to get any H&H.

I'll probably go to one of the stores on Wine Searcher. I hope it doesn't make things difficult for John Danza, who started this thread.

Who is the MA distributor for H&H?
