For the USA, this is Labor Day weekend and many people have an extra day or two off. Regardless if you have a holiday weekend or not, what are you drinking this weekend?

As for me, I'm working all weekend so there is no drinking, but as soon as this busy weekend is over I've got a 1962 Graham's Malvedos ready for the Virtual Tasting [cheers.gif]

Last evening, we had Steak au Poivre with a 2002 Pichon Baron. Then, we had a chocolate cake with a 1977 Graham's.

A wonderful evening....

Tonight I grilled MAMMOTH sized rib steaks. The 2007 Vesuvio and Pombal do Vesuvio DOC wines were both stunning. More on that in the Douro wine section.

I am HOPING to get to one Port this weekend, if I can find time to even decant the bottle. Life is not easy at the moment.

I just re-organized my wine last night since we finished the move into our new house. To celebrate, we opened a 1982 Krohn Colheita.

I did open Niepoort LBV 99 on Saturday, probably my fav LBV from Niepoort. It was just showing great, I did hope I had more remaining.

On Friday, it was Redoma 2004 Tinto, good wine but not showing its best today, tannins were hard. Next bottle in 5 years? probably!

Smoked a 4.5 lb flat Brisket along with 2 racks of spare ribs. The brisket took 9 hours, the ribs 6.5. All came out wonderful.

As for port, on Saturday night, we 1994 Warre (pop and pour), along with 1980 Sandeman.

Quinta do Noval 2001 LBV unflitered opened yesterday... wife needed some port for a recipe... I'm a little low on expendable bottles these days (wine and port) been drinking without buying more to stock up the cellar for months so running out of expendable ones.....oldish unfiltered LBVs are best kept secret...great quality/price ratio... oh did I say that out loud?
Will finish it off tonight or tomorrow.

cheers
Paul
