After a 2004 I did really like, I was anxious to taste this wine from 2005.

This 2005 is not as rustic as the 2004 and shows a good compromise between modernity and classic Douro profile. The nose is displaying flavours of lavander, chocolate and ripe plums. On the palate, we sense that everything is ripe, from the fruits flavours to the tannins. A profile similar to the nose is displayed on the palate added to this the minerality of the Douro and amazingly balanced 14% of alcohol that does not show. A little more acidity would have been nice but all in all, this wine is balanced and attractive without pushing too much on the extraction. 16.5/20
