2005 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

I've been sipping on this the past few nights and I boy what a monster this is. It is loaded with bosenberries, blackberries, and a ton of tannins and acidity. Surprisingly it still has a bite of stinging sulfer that I typically get on very young VP's when they are less than 1-2 years old. That may sound bad, but in a great young VP that is pretty normal and something I've now come to expect. So to see it still lurking on this black-strap VP is encouraging and I have no doubt it will integrate with time. At this stage it's not a VP for the faint of heart. But if you want to see what a rock-star Port is like young this is one to open. The Symington's sure hit a home run with this one. 96-97 points

Andy,
thanks a lot for your TN! Good to know that it shows so good. 2005 Vesuvio VP is at the head of my wish list. I will probably have the opportunity to purchse it at about 42 EUR. I think I will go for 2 or 3 cases of 6. I've got the impression, Vesuvio is going to be a nobrainer whatever is the vintage.

Cheers,
Michael
