Ramos Pinto 1997 1 hour
My first Ramos Pinto and what an unexpected pleasure - this was the surprise of the night for me. An attractive glowing deep rose colour. A delicate nose of blackcurrants and vanilla. Lovely balanced entry, fruit initially around a focussed but soft acidity. Good development of fruit in the midpalate with the tannins almost hidden. Aftertaste is good, long and delicious. A delicate and expressive wine - not a blockbuster but a wonderful wine very much in a feminine style. 92 points
