Thanks!

Looks like 2 made it FWIW

#48 2006 Quinta do Vale Meão Douro Meandro

#88 2007 Churchill Touriga Nacional Douro

Both are nice bottles but how the Meandro did better than the Churchill is beyond me. IMO the Churchill is a much better wine.

I understand that because of the economic climate, value for money was more emphasized this year. Hence the lower priced, relatively speaking, wines.

That would make sense as some of their other lists had stuff that was never even available in the retail world, and sold out long before the list even came out. So why even bother putting those types of wine on the list to begin with [dash1.gif]

Just a brief question. Are we allowed to post these remarks here? Surely we cannot quote notes from WA.

Don't bite hand that feeds you and the subscribers that run to the liquor store with that list. This won't change my buying habits at all. Any wine on this is list I enjoy is coincidence at best. :snooty:

I dont know where you get the idea that WS list "feeds me"!!!!!!!!! I dont subscribe nor, usually, agree with the likes of Suckling and the rest. But i know that the WS has a lot of influence in the US market so whenever a list like this is coming out you can see who's paying the big bucks for publicity

Feeds their sponsors, advertisers, and readers... WS is real big in USA. Most liquor stores use their ratings to sell wine. If every "hot wine" has a description and rating under it, less knowledgeable staff is required on site. The wines that are hot on this list produce selling aids based on the ratings.

If someone did not know anything about wine and they read something that says, “This wine scored an A”, it must be good, right? “I only drink 92+ point wine”.
