Bought this for $20 a couple weeks ago since I've never had it. I had one glass of this and it was light, simple, and weak. I had one glass and put the bottle away until the next day where I had one small taste again. It hadn't changed and was still a light bodied simple light red fruit with no noticable tannins and overly acidic. Not something I personally enjoyed and the rest will be used for cooking.
79 points.

All the 2004,2005 wines of Vallado I have tasted except for 1-2 bottling were showing too much acidity in their youth for my taste. I did not have the chance to talk about to the staff of Vallado but one answer I did get from someone in the Douro was that these wines need time and should be released with bottle age, just like they are doing it with Casa Ferreirinha wines. Time will tell I guess!

The overly light body would be more worrisome the acid in a 2005 wine to me. Perhaps that's their style of wine?

There was nothing there that would age or get better with more time. I detected nothing wrong with the bottle, other than it was IMO a poorly made wine in this vintage. I've never had any other Vallado Douro's that I recall, although it is possible at a prior trade tasting, so I can't speak for similarities in other vintages. But seems from Fred their wines tend to be a bit too acidic.
