Chambers Rosewood Special Tokay

Post by Richard Henderson »

During an overdue cellar inventory ( food for many other topics and thoughts) I discovered about 40 bottles of Chambers Rosewood Special Tokay and Muscat. We bought these about 8 years ago and we open a bottle or two per year.
I am amazed at what it costs now, about $100/375 when we paid about $25.
Parker gave this SpecialTokay a 99. I am not sure how he reserved a point.
It is rich, dense, complex on the nose, like being in a kitchen where pralines or toffee is being cooked.

A very full silkey mouth feel coats the palate, very sweet, dense, toffee, rich caramel truffle flavors. Reminds me of Millionares, an old Pangburn's chocolate delight. It is similar to Turtles.
The flavors last in the finish to infinity--and beyond!
A great fortified wine. This solera method wine has molecules form the 19th century. It has much in common with a Malmsey or Bual from Madeira.
This is an Australian that has not called itself "port" nor "madeira" yet it is one of the finest fortified wines you will ever taste.
