For The Love Of Port

Decanted this about 6 hours before we started in on it. I didn't notice any issues with the nose on this early on, just some lavender and violets. But the palate was rather simple and uninteresting and the finish was rather short on this bottle. I've had this several times in the past and it has always been a very nice bottle that doesn't disappoint. I figured this was just an off bottle until I poured the left overs a few minutes ago. While the three of us didn't notice anything last night, today there is some very slight mustiness on the nose. Instead of being an off bottle, this bottle ended up having some low level TCA. Total bummer!

Ah, but what was your score after the first night w/out perceiving the TCA?

That would be interesting too.

I would have put it around 83 points. It wasn't undrinkable, but very simple like a basic ruby someone aged for a while.

It was like that 1977 Dow's you brought down a couple years ago. It tasted ok at first and wasn't until a long time later where the TCA become evident.
