This was popped on the spur of the moment by a friend of my brother's while we were spending a night in Boulder, CO. It was decanted and given about an hour of air before being poured, then consumed over the next several hours.
Medium ruby/purple color. The nose is very pleasing with notes of vanilla, strawberry/raspberry jam and a touch of licorice. On the palate it's medium/light bodied with ripe red fruit and just a hint of black pepper. The tannins are very mellow and the finish is of medium length with good balance. All in all a very tasty VP, though one that I would opt to drink in the near term as it has very good balance but a lighter weight structure that probably doesn't warrant long-term aging. 90 pts, Tasted 4/12/10
