1963 Graham's Vintage Port

Decanted 4 hours and then consumed over the next hour or two. A fairly dark red but with a wide brick rim showing its maturity. Expressive, floral nose of strawberry syrup, cinnamon, clove, cedar, leather and red licorice - a touch of black pepper too. Candied berry fruit and spicy cinnamon on the palate with silky tannins and fresh acidity providing great balance. The finish shows some heat at first but is very long and takes on a nutty character as it tails off. Beautiful mature port that is drinking wonderfully but should have many years of life left. 96pts, Tasted 4/17/09
