1994 Quinta do Infantado LBV

Color: Opaque garnet, possibly some small amount of bricking. Very mildly cloudy... possibly just some very fine sediment.
Nose: Prominant alcohol, but not oppressive. Tart and red.
Palate: Lots of red fruit that is closer to ripe than mellow. Someone noted "tea smoked" which seems apt. Good tannins and acidity. Quite dry to my taste. Over time the red fruits seemed to regress toward green (meaning unripe, not leafy/stalky) and the alcohol became disjointed.
Finish: Tart and dry. Some black pepper.

My very first impression was 92 because it seemed so unique and ... wel, strange... but it drifted lower almost immediately. I finally settled on 88 though much of that is simply fear that I just don't understand this LBV. It's clearly not my style so I really have a hard time rating it.

88 points.
