Decanted at 9 a.m. for planned drinking 12 hours later. Upon decanting, a lot of concord grape in the aroma and a little spirit, and a gritty texture if you could smell such a thing. It made me think of quince paste, but in the texture of vegemite. It didn't smell any bit of vegemite, but the aroma suggested a texture. I smelled this later in the day and got strong red strawberries. Yet later after that, eucalyptus.

D+12: Burgundy maroon, not inky but maybe a hint of purple. The aroma is dominated by the dried leaf herb, more bay leaf like now than eucalyptus. A tiny bit of spirit and spice. Medium body with some fruit and tannin, very little acid. One of my guests commented that it wasn't too syrupy. Seemed in the middle on the dry-sweet spectrum. Medium to shorter finish.

This is nice, but the aroma is a real distraction preventing me from enjoying it more. I really wish it had some of that grape, jam, or strawberry it showed earlier in the day. If it did, it would definitely be in the low 90s, but as is, I score an 88. We'll see if it improves tomorrow.

D+36: A little more jammy fruit in the mouth, but still a lot of menthol-eucalyptus. Maybe a point improvement, but not enough to make me go out and buy more yet.
