Do you know what this is for?

Roy posted this picture in PORTraits, but I didn't see any way for us to post guesses so I thought I'd start a thread. Here's the picture:

My guess: steam pipes for a geothermal power plant?

I'm going to bet food/beverage related as those are sanitary tri-clover fittings. The very large diameter for the main pipes compared to the smaller diameter feeds is slightly perplexing. Doesn't look like any filtration I'm used to seeing. My wild guess is that it is for heat transfer, chilling or heating, with a nod to heating to pick up on Glenn's guess.

I think those are pipes that pump Port directly into a holding tank in my house.

My guess is this is a manifold for the heated water / steam that is used in the estufa in the making of Madeira.

I think Eric M is on the right track. Smaller pipes carring the fluid in question, larger pipes for heating/cooling fluid.

I don't think there can be a very high flow through the vertical tubes. If there was, the manifold at the top would have to be "stepped" in diameter to accommodate the flow from one, two, three, etc, vertical tubes. Perhaps the verticals are condensers for some kind of distillation apparatus. If so, the small manifolds near the top and bottom of the verticals might be where the cooling fluid enters and exits the condensers.

I forgot about this.
What is it, Roy?

Just lock the cellar door and tell him he'll only get the key back if he tells us

Andy,
You don't really understand the basics of crime and punnishment do you?
If you arrested a small child for stealing candy from a 7/11 would you lock him up in a room full of candy?

Derek
You silly boy, he'll be locked out of the cellar and won't be able to get to his candy. That's like telling a kid he can't have any sugar or play computer games for the rest of his life....
translation = He'll tell us real soon

No clue of what this is, but I would say it's not Port-related. Used in Madeira's wineries to heat up the wine?

Not Madeira related or some new fangled estufagem system.
Written on my new wifi computer from inside my cellar, locked in (Andy you are gonna pay for this!) but although I have a corkscrew, Dorene did not provide me with any glassware. I do keep 12" straws in here though, so am feeding off a Mag of 1935 Cockburn this morning for breakfast. It is very nutritious.
Do you think I am going to tell you what that is for?

Of course I will ... in the
July newsletter.

I was going to ask how he got all the sediment out of a magnum bottle with only a 12" straw

I've already alerted the authorities at the airports, he won't make it out alive until he spills his guts
