1974 Quinta do Noval Colheita Port

bottled 2005
I opened this for a friend who flew down for the Ridge dinner yesterday and then some of us ended up at the house later that night smoking cigars and drinking the rest of this. Here are some brief impressions of it...there is an immediate silky viscosity on the tip of the tongue that quickly gives way to a dollop of acidity which prevents this from being to cloying. A wave of maple, mahogany, orange peel, and subtle yet noticeable spices that speak up and let you know they are they on the long finish. A wonderful bottle and IIRC there isn't much of this left at the Quinta. If that's the case then it's a real shame, but I'm glad to have many more bottles of this.
