i picked up 3 of the 2001 Redoma today. I guess based on what was said I guess these need a couple of years, at minimum, to age?

Glad you like it Andy, I've got only one bottle left of this. But I think we should receive a new batch of this soon. Now I'd suggest taking a step futher in quality and price and try the Redoma 2001 which I think is the best Redoma produced so far. 2001 was a great year for dry Douro wines. Fred, ...

Well... if it has more of everything and balanced as this one, it will be a great wine. This one was defenitively the best red wine I had south of the Douro in Portugal. Too many are just too oaky or extrated and new world fashion. If you open one, don't hesitate to post your tasting notes. I saw m...

Hi Roy, João, Are you looking at the Nacional as an investment or something to drink. If it is the former, good luck to you. If it is the latter, welcome aboard. I certainly would never have considered purchasing Nacional when I was so new to Port. But if you are serious, the price that is mentioned...

I read somewhere that the 2000 has doubled its retail price since it got to the market. Is that true? Will the same thing happen to the 2003? There is a web store that is selling the 2000 at 1479€+VAT and the the 2003 for 528.93€+VAT. What do you think of these prices? I'm totally new to Port. As fa...

Re: Quinta do Carmo 2000
A wine from the Alentejano region produced in a join venture with Baron Rothschild. The nose is very expressive on red berry like rasberry, wood show with grilled bread flavors and also some tar. The mouth is lovely and balanced on the red berry flavours supported by good acidity to hold everything...

I love Douro reds and will be overwhelmed by dozens of them in the next ten days. But I can't say that they are better than the best of Rioja and Priorat in Spain. Time will tell. I enjoy an occasional Rioja, but LOVE Priorats. Any recomendation for an affordable Priorat? Btw, what is the region th...

I agree with you, Cistus are producing very good Douro wine. Some in a more traditionnal fashion like the reserva and Grand Reserva but also in a more internationnal style like the Tourigal Nacional cuvée. They also produce a very good Tinta Roriz cuvée. I bought both from the 2002 vintage, recentl...

Re: Ferreira Esteva 2001 (red Wine)
Any recommendations for higher end Douro red wines? BTW, it is from the Ferreira Winery at Quinta do Seixo and made up of Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca grapes. It is imported by Broadbent Selections Inc. You should try the Cistus Reserva 2001 or it's big brother, the Grande Reser...

Hi everybody, Since this is my first posting here I would like to greet you all, specially Roy for the excelent site and initiatives. Wine is a recent passion for me, one that I think will never go away. The next step in the Casa Ferreirinha wine portfolio is the Vinha Grande, a very good fruit bomb...
