Noval Nacional 2003

Post by Frederick Blais »

For those interested, at the SAQ in Québec this week-end there is a rebate of 10% on every bottle of 20$+. They just have received the Nacional 2003 at 700$. So at 630$Can with the rebate, I think it is the best deal on the planet, but still very expensive!

I read somewhere that the 2000 has doubled its retail price since it got to the market. Is that true? Will the same thing happen to the 2003?

There is a web store that is selling the 2000 at 1479€+VAT and the the 2003 for 528.93€+VAT. What do you think of these prices?

I'm totally new to Port. As far as I can remember, I think I had my first glass of Port last weekend...

Cheers

João,

Are you looking at the Nacional as an investment or something to drink. If it is the former, good luck to you. If it is the latter, welcome aboard. I certainly would never have considered purchasing Nacional when I was so new to Port. But if you are serious, the price that is mentioned by Matt is quite good. Welcome aboard. I assume you are of Portuguese or Brazilian descent?

Mainly as an investment. Yes, right now a Nacional in my hands would be a total waste, even though I feel very curious to try one.

Thanks. Yes, I'm Portuguese.

If anyone is interested, please PM me, as a lurker here, is interested in selling a bottle that she hand carried back from Noval's cellar on a very recent trip.

Oooops. I am mistaken. Her bottle of Nacional is the unbelievable rare and fabulous 1963. If you have some spare change around, this is one fabulous wine and it came right from Noval. Good luck!
