WTSO had 1985 Gould Campbell today

$59.95 was no real bargain though.

Yes, the label was more enticing than some of their other recent offerings, but not the price.

Perhaps--but don't you think the provenance should be good?

You are probably right but based on your tasting notes, your score and the fact I did not have any I did spring for 4.

I don't think it was a bad deal, as that price was around the best you can find right now. It just wasn't a total steal. And I do suspect the bottles will be in nice shape.

I bought 4. While sitting in my hotel room looking out over the river Douro to Vila Nova de Gaia. Seemed like the right thing to do. ;)

Given 29 years and it is a very solid Port, if you don't own any yet, it is a good deal but not great. I remember these being sold in the USA for $39.99 not long ago and by that, I mean in the past 2-3 years.

Saw it but...new brakes on car or more Port. I'm sure you can guess which won out. :(

My thoughts exactly!

I changed my mind and bought 4 more. At the "Best of the 80s" tasting I thought this was the Graham, which says a lot. It's an excellent Port and the bottles I received from my first WTSO purchase were in typically superb condition.

As Roy says, it's a good price but not a great one. If you spend enough time searching you might eventually find a better deal, but $60 for a 30-yr old Port is good enough that I'm happy pulling the trigger.

Go to www.wtso.com

But the offers there come and go rather quickly so it may be gone already.

Welcome to the forum, always good to have another port aficionado. You can sign up for wtso updates and it will come to your email but they are mostly wines other than port.

Nevermind, it's already gone. Was only up for about 9 minutes, apparently. :(

That's a real bummer... I have a bottle of this open right now and it's superb. I'd have bought a case this time at that price!
