Bottled June 2009, after having stayed 2.5 years in French oak barrels. Tasting note is from one of the two bottles brought home to Norway.
Decanted 2.5 hrs. Dark red colour with a tiny touch of brown. Aroma of oak and herbs. Full body. Quite powerful taste with a lot of minerals and oak and some smoke. “Thinner” in the middle part. Nice tannins. Long aftertaste. 88 pts.

This is a different Douro wine than what most people are expecting from the region. I would say this is far more traditional in style, being restrained and almost austere at points, but with a touch of new world in the background. I've found this to be one of the hardest Douro wines to describe to people as a result. A wine that I don't see everyone necessarily liking, or liking as much.
