1985 Ramos Pinto Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Tasted blind. This is one of the darkest of 15 VPs server. It is dark garnet with some orange-brown tint, but not extensively bricked. It is pretty solid/opaque. Initially this seems to have but faint aromas, with a little bit of stem. Then some depth begins to develop and it becomes more Graham-like. There are some floral elements , too. Faint cork? Slight vegetable, and stewed prunes. There is flavor of stewed prune in the mouth as well. This is fairly thick and deep, and syrupy sweet with light tar and a faint spice flavor. Overall, this is really nice with decent depth and finish, but not as much complexity as I expected given the color. 90 points.
