1985 Robertson's Rabello Valente Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Ruby with some brown tint. Classic port aroma, slightly musty, slight medicinal spirit, faint dried raspberry, and a woody cellar aroma. In the mouth, this seems pretty classical as well. Medium to slightly lighter in body, this ends warm in the finish. Not overly powerful, this strikes me as a subtle finesse Port, reminding me of a 1977 Warres, although a little sweeter. Later it was a bit more musty. After some not quite great 1985s the previous day, I initially scored this a 92; but after coming to recognize this bias, revised that score. 91 points.
