True...though I'm usually a bit leery of retailer reported provenance, have you ever seen a bottle for sale that didn't have some version of, 'purchased from a reputable retailer/on release/ex negociant/etc and stored in a temperature controlled cellar'?

One of the things that I like about Madeira is so long as it's not showing leakage it seems to be pretty safe. :)

European Wine Resource has provided actual documents to me before on a couple bottles, and Chicago Wine Company has shown me auction history for the bottle in question before, but you're right, most retailers just give some lip service about the fact that they trust where it came from.
