1920 Wiese & Krohn Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

This bottle lacked definitive markings as to whether it was a VP or Colheita, but was presumed to be a VP. After tasting, this remained a subject of debate, but I still believed it to be a VP.

Lightly cloudly, this was fairly brown with a green-gray tint. It gave musty and aged aromas, and a little off bathroom smell, like a urinal. Luckily this took effort to find. In the mouth there is some sweetness with fig. It is sweet and savory, with warmth in the finish. It continues to be tangy jammy sweet, and savory too. Later there was a plant stem aroma, tomato plant. And much later, there was some wood aroma. Nice overall, 93 points.
