Initial hint of caramel and spirit, then some raisin, cinnamon, and orange citrus. The spirit is becoming more integrated. Really sweet in the mouth with some warmth in the finish. The caramel is now a tangy sugary syrup, bordering on cloying. Some acid is coming along to cut it. It isn’t quite there/enough, but this is pretty tasty. Later there was a little off aroma, but then that disappeared. This is pleasant on its own, but not outstanding. ~90 points.
I didn't note the bottling year, but tasted this at Vinologia in Porto and presume it was relatively recent based on the serving location and appearance of the bottle.

Re: Quinta da Lamelas 40+ Year Old White
Don't presume that it was a recent bottling. I've had many not-so-recent bottles while drinking Port in the old Vinologia. I'm not casting aspersions, because sometimes I wind up very happy with some of the older bottlings.
Either way, I am a fan of this 40 year old and only have had it once, (staying at Linha 22) but don't know that I even took a note at the time. The owner poured it and it was a generous glass and one that I really enjoyed.

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
