1994 Quinta do Crasto Vintage Port

Post by Edward J »

I was able to pick up 7 of these at auction for $35 bid. I thought of it as a cellar defender but it's more than that. Opened to a excellent cork and decant, very similar to their LBVP, but happily not corked! After 6 hour decant the nose was pretty tight with a hint of lemon thyme and dried apricots. The color was as deep as only port can get. Rich mouth feel with fruit well in balance with spirit and tannins. While not fully mature it appears to be in it's prime. There was a distinct tea leaf and the finish was long not fading until you had another sip. The second day it held up just fine and disappeared quickly. I think it will hold at least another 10 years, but perhaps not big enough to go the long haul. 93+pts. (The + is for the outstanding PTV.)
