S. Leonardo 20 Year Old Tawny Port -- Quinta do Mourao

Post by Andy Velebil »

Bottled in 2015. A very pale orangish brown. A lot of sweet maple syrup and marmalade on the nose. This starts out with a bright orange peel that quickly morphs into old wood varnish, mahogany, maple, vanilla, and bright acidity across the entire palate and finish. That acidity across the whole spectrum keeps this super fresh and prevents it from becoming too cloying. The finish is a little deceptive compared to older bottlings. Those older bottlings were much more "In your face" where this newer bottling is more subtle yet very persistent. A wonderful 20 year old Tawny that I am glad is now being imported State side.
