Buying at a US Auction?

Post by Al B. »

Oh boy, have we been spammed again! Roll on Feb 15 when these robospammers will be locked out.

Anyway, the reason for this post was just a heads up to all you guys in the US who have been thinking about buying at auction for the first time. Sotheby's in New York are holding an auction on Feb 10 and have a nice selection of VP's on offer, including (at low estimate):
11 bottles Grahams '45 for $5,500
12 bottles Taylor's '63 for $2,400
Taylors 1977, Grahams 1945, Taylors 1992 and Grahams 1970.

Of course, there's no guarantee that the wines will sell at low estimate and you then have to add on buyers commission and freight, but there might be some bargains to be had!

I'll be attending that auction in person.

Not to mention insurance.

I have a large consignment in that exact auction! None of them Port of course.. I keep those for myself! How ever a great collection of Cali Cult wines is being auctioned and I'm hoping that it wil pay for my very necessary home remodeling.

They are lots lots 858-957.

Wish me luck!

PS. If someone has a question about the provenence of my wines, let me know. I know the history of just about alll of them.
