12.5% ABV which is quite rare now days in the Douro. IIRC, this is made from Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Amarela. 70-ish year old vines and aged in 225L barrels for 22 months. Not your typical riper and more fruit forward Douro wine. Restrained and very fresh red fruit, tar and well balanced tannins. This wine is a bid deceiving as it doesn't want to give up much early on. With plenty of air this really starts to fill out and sneak up on you. Very subtle in it's approach yet amazing in how long the flavors and complexity linger in the mouth and on the finish. While I don't have prior experience with this wine, it appears to have the stuffing to age quite well and be even better off for it. I love this dialed back and fresh take on a Douro wine. It's like an old Douro village wine but with far more complexity and allure. I really look forward to seeing how this will age over the coming decade.

Thanks for the interesting tasting note.
You are mentioning "plenty of air". Can you indicate what was your decanting time?
I have earlier this week purchased a bottle of his other Douro red the 2014 Xisto Cru and will use your info as a guideline.
Have also purchased a bottle each of his two white wines 2014 Xisto Cru (same name as the red) and 2015 Granito Cru Alvarinho, and expect to try them before the year end.
