TN: 2007 Quinta do Crasto Old Vines Reserva Douro Red

Post by David Spriggs »

Dark Color. Big nose of cocoa and smoked meat. A big ripe wine, but the excellent acidity saves it. Downside - a bit monolithic. Delicious and still in balance. I would drinking these now and over the next few year. Yes... this wine will hang in there for many years, but I would drink it now for the fruit and freshness. Excellent! 92 points.

Like you, having consumed countless bottles of these over the years, I’ve come to the conclusion these Reserva from them are best for early to mid term drinking for exactly the reason you say.

In all fairness, these are not meant to be long term agers, that’s what their upper end wines are for. These are for younger drinking and that they do very well. Always an excellent QPR.
