TN: 2000 Niepoort Moscatel do Douro

Post by Rune EG »

Have had many of these during the last 10 years. Purchased recently the last 8 bottles that were available in Norway. No decanting. Clear amber colour. Aroma of exotic fruits incl. apricot. Medium to full body. The taste is rich, fruity, elegant. Pleasant, nice citrus, mature fruit (but not overripe). Well-balanced acidity/sweetness and also well-structured. More forceful and rich than 10 years ago. Long aftertaste. Still very nice. 93 pts.

Having had a number of young and old ones, courtesy of Dirk, I found these really take a good while to gain that amazing complexity and depth. Put the rest away for a good while.

From their website, it looks like the 2000 vintage was bottled in 2010.
Are you saying this wine continues to improve significantly in the bottle?
How does it compare to a good Moscatel Setúbal?
