1980 Graham Vintage Port

Post by John Danza »

  • 1980 Graham Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (3/20/2026)
Double decanted six hours before service. I drink a good amount of 1980 vintage port, and this bottle is clearly the best 1980 Graham I've ever had. I put this bottle on a par with the 1980 Gould Campbell, which I think is the second place wine of the vintage behind Dow.

Dark red with a bit of browning. The alcohol heat is completely resolved. Lots of fruit, with plums being the most evident. Medium sweetness. An easy wine to drink. An amazing bottle. (95 pts.)

A truly fabulous VP from a year that doesn’t get much press. Glad it showed so well.

Damn, glad it it was rocking! Just reminds me of that quote about there being no great old wines, just great bottles. The gens are alway wonderful to find.
