2011 J.H. Andresen Vintage Port - for Port Wine Day (night) celebration yesterday. Love this bottling and I don't care that I am drinking them young. So delicious.

Last night - 1994 Vesuvio VP. Outstanding as always.
Tonight - Mourao "100" (old blend b. 2015) and a Mourao "60" white (b. 2017) for the 100 Mile Dinner at The Herbfarm. Should be spectacular!

Glenn,
Have a great time with the dinner, friends and those incredible bottles!
Interested to hear how that 100 is holding up.

1999 Ferreira LBV. A monumental LBV. A real powerhouse of port with a lot of depth and finesse.
More powerful than I would normally think of a Ferreira port. Really terrific stuff

1985 Quinta do Crasto VP.
Second bottle this year. Both past best days. Relatively simple but still drinkable. I wouldn’t wait much longer if you own any.

2004 Kopke Colheita Branco
A nice end-of-summer Port since we seem to have only had about 6 weeks of summer this year.
Neither Port showed any bottle age that we noticed, so both are holding up extremely well. IIRC the 4 of us had the "60" white at about 96 points and the "100" at about 98 points.

We had a great time! The 100 Mile Dinner is always fun.

Re: What have you opened this week?
I didn't open it, but I did have the good fortune to be in the right place at the right time. It wound up with getting to taste the 2024 Niepoort.
I have elaborated on this, in a different new thread.

Re: What have you opened this week?
Went to an interesting tasting last night. Newer LBVs versus a Ruby/Ruby Reserve from the same house. Just three pairs:
Taylor LBV vs Taylor Finest Reserve
Pocas LBV versus a Pocas Ruby
Dow LBV versus a Dow Ruby
Strikingly, the WOTN was the Taylor Finest Reserve. The Pocas Ruby I really enjoyed and was shocked when not a reserve. Dos LBV was very well received.
For any newbies out there, this would be an awesome tasting for you. If you pay attention, you'll better understand LBVs versus rubies and how to taste a little better. These were served in pairs, blind. Trying to figure which was the LBV was fun and cool.

Re: What have you opened this week?
I'm not surprised. As I'm sure you remember, the Taylor Finest Reserve won the Ruby Reserve Taste-Off that we held all over the world back in 2012. And it was an add-on at the time - we went into that tasting trying to decide whether Graham's Six Grapes or Noval Black was the best Ruby Reserve!
I've also found that it ages very nicely for a filtered Port. Don't let "filtered" scare you off - many of them will age quite well for 20-25 years.

Re: What have you opened this week?
I opened an unusual vintage port under the label Porto Barbosa. The back label says the Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association.
It tastes more like a tawny than a vintage. Mild oaky flavors and not much fruit left.

1996 Krohn Colheita (b. 2018)
NV Pocas 20 Year Old White Port "O Galego"
The latter just arrive last Friday, so may not have shown its best due to travel shock. It was still very nice.

How was the Krohn's?
The O Galego is now officially listed for sale on their website.

'77 Grahams. A bit on the light colored side and kind of simple. Still enjoyable though

Re: What have you opened this week?
Krohn was nice. One person thought it had some bottle age and guessed about 10 years, but the rest of us didn't really notice it. It seemed older than a 20 year old to me, but not quite as old as a 30. (Years in wood, of course.)Mike J. W. wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2026 4:13 pmHow was the Krohn's?

I opened it because we had one several months ago at Port Club, but that one had been bottled in 2011 and was definitely showing bottle age. This bottle was also interesting because it was bottled after TFP purchased W&K. Most W&K tawnies have been being bottled as Taylors since the purchase. (The "Single Harvest Tawny" series starting with 1964, 1965, etc.)

2015 Crasto LBV. Still too young.
Re: What have you opened this week?
I normally expect them to be ready at about 20 years, only the 12 and the 14 seems to not have that much potential.

I like the 2011 better. This might have been in a closed phase though.

1985 Graham for one last work dinner. It was pretty spectacular... one of the best bottles that I've had in recent memory.
