Sorry, not a tasting note for '92 but a request for one. Has anyone tried this? Any views?
I've seen a good offer on this (Justerini & Brooks, for those in England) so if it is anything like as good as the Vesuvio '95 I tried this week I'd be tempted.
The '95 was intensely fruity, sweeter than average and almost what I'd call "green" - no overt tannins but very well preserved for a '95. It put me in mind of the Gould Campbell '77. Like a very very good but young lbv.
Before you slate me for hypocrisy, I know I'm not a fan of drinking them young, but I tried a single bottle of the '95 with a mind to buy a case to lay down for a few years (GBP 30 from the Wine Soc.) However, if the '92 is any good I'd go for that as Justerinis are knocking it out at GBP25.

After browsing my tasting notes books I found out I did not take notes of this one that night.
If you bought more than 2 bottles, I would not hesitate to open one, Vesuvio is always a charm to taste. The tannins are always bold but the texture is so sweet and rich, just like a jar of jam each time. Vesuvio is probably the Port I've tasted the most different vintages and while they can last they are so good in its youth. I paid mine around 60$ us which was a good price event if the release price was around 25$ us
From what I remember here is a more detailed tasting note:
The 1992 was still opaque, almost purple with a light evolution trace on the rim, nose was intense but a bit simple on dark berries, spices and dark chocolate. The mouth is full body, very rich, lots of extract on dark fruits, tannins are still present but so well integrated by this rich texture, the finale is lingering with tannins that emerge giving that spicy impression. 17.5/20+
