It has been awhile ...

Normally I decant my VPs well in advance of drinking them. But on a few rare occasions, I don't have that luxury. While putting a few new additions into the cellar, I spotted some 375s that I had forgotten about, as they were in racks along with the 750s (something I just don't do intentionally).

So I decided that with a daunting project on my plate and late hours to come, it would be fine to pop and pour after decanting. I'll make sure to try a glass on Sat and again on Sunday to get a broader view of the 1991 Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port.

Although it is incredibly young and still cool from the cellar ... this is one heck of a fun VP to taste. More to follow!

Roy,

my experience with the 91 Vargellas is the same. I bought a couple of 375 bottles from the Taylors lodge in Vila Nova and I recently opened a bottle which I totally liked. This would definitely have been an outstanding backbone for a splendid 91 Taylors Vintage Port.

I will try the next without decanting as well and see how it goes.

Roy,

Can't wait for the TN. This is a port I own a rare bottle of (in 750 mL format). I say rare, because it was too bloody expensive for me to afford any more! :)
