The color of the Rebello Valente was very similar to Madeira with a pale burnt amber hue, very light at the edge, and overall brown and rusty looking. It had an excellent bouquet of sugar and almonds yet slightly floral with a bit of gardenia and tree sap which became more pronounced an hour after decanting. The taste was of butter and brown sugar, canned peach syrup, and vanilla with a bit of anise. It had a much longer finish than expected, lasting at least 24 seconds. In summary: an old Port with not too many years left, yet still a treat to drink!
