TN: 2001 Sogrape Vila Regia Reserva

Post by Paul_B »

Hi all,

here is the wine for these situations:
1) ordinary day or meal and you do not want to break the bank
2) you have bunch of people and they all have different tastes and preferences and you think you just can not please everyone with one wine.
3) Someone asks you "just give me a glass of red."

Here is a nice 2001 that is still on the young side if you can believe it. Easy drinking wine, deep red. Nice power in the taste but will not stun anyone because the ending is soft/smooth.

Like I said, a drinking wine ( I mean without food) or for basic week day or evening meal.

Nice to see that wine at 12$ CAD is actually drinkable and no headache.

From the label I can read a mix of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. The Reserva is only made in certain years and aged in French oak casks for 18 months.

cheers

What a coincidence Paul B. Just opened the `01 Sogrape Reserva an hour ago. No sign of age, lovely nose and great fruit balance. I can post notes here asap if you like.
