Croft 2000 VP

Dear all,

I've seen this bottle at a special offer in a local wine shop. It seems cheaper to buy this here than from various places on winesearcher. What do you all think of it? I've read conflicting reviews on the internet so i'm not to sure what to make of it. I might just purchase it and taste it in a few years, just to further my port knowledge .

I've tasted this port last christmas and liked it a good deal. It seemed like it was just emerging from a dumb phase. It will probably be a bit more early maturing than others, but that doesn't matter. If the price is right, I'd say buy, and you'll have yourself a very enjoyable drink.

It was £35. The 1994 Croft was £42 but I wanted something that I would enjoy keeping for a few years, rather than something that would have to be drunk sooner.

I could sort you out a nice mature 1970 Croft for less than that!

I'm usually based in Suffolk, not that far from London. But on this incidence I was near Oxford. I'm intrigued as to where you source these wines from.

I trawl the field - most of the trade takes place in London, but there are significant sales in Newbury and Abergavenny.

The 1994 is a fine port as well, and will hold for many years to come. At the moment, it is quite reluctant to open up.
