My Port Wine "buy" Recommendation of the Week

Post by Roy Hersh »

Although those prices on the Nacionals I listed earlier were very advantageous, they may be out of reach for the typical Port consumer (what is a typical Port consumer? :Naughty: )

So here are a couple of fine Ports that I've handpicked, that are offered by the Winexchange - 1 800 76-winex

These are not only very solid Ports but in particular, they represent EXCELLENT value for money:

a. Delaforce 20 year old Tawny Port for $27.99 ... given that most 10 year olds sell for this price, you do the math.

b. I've already mentioned that the 2003 Churchill's was being offered for $39.99, whilst normally they sell 375s @ $36.99. Run don't walk, to see if there are any left at this price.

c. 1977 Kopke Colheita (375 ml) @ $56.99

d. 1976 Krohn Colheita (750 ml) at $59.99

e. Niepoort dry White Port - a solid summer quaffer for $10.99

f. 2000 Quinta do Noval LBV @ $16.99

g. Quinta do Noval 10 year Tawny (Fonseca is $25) for $19.99 - good and good for ya

h. BIRTH YEAR for a child? 2005 Quinta de Roriz VP @ $39.99 (in comparison, the Vesuvio is $55)

i. OK, so this is not Port ... nor even from the Douro. However, you are not going to find a better Portuguese white wine and a very fine one it is indeed --> Broadbent Vinho Verde @ $7.99

j. Maybe the best value of all comes this red wine from the Dao Region of Portugal which is really very good and way underpriced for its quality ... Quinta de Cabriz, Colheita Seleccionada, Tinta (red) @ $9.99

That's my Top 10 for the week. Happy hunting!
