I do believe Lancers (launched 1944?) and Mateus (launched 1942?) did not exist back then.
The reason might very well be affinities between the provincial premier of the time, Maurice 'Le Chef' Duplessis, and the 'progressive' António de Oliveira Salazar...
It might also explain why my granny had a taste for Ruby Port, which was my introduction to the beverage.

That more of a joke than anything. Those were the two most famous Portuguese wines as a kid, next to Dao's and Vinho Verde.Patrick Mazur wrote:I do believe Lancers (launched 1944?) and Mateus (launched 1942?) did not exist back then.

Duplessis : His only redeeming quality was his interest in Portuguese wines .
Otherwise he was responsible for the worst political climate Québec has ever known
