2003 Quinta das Tecedeiras | Opinions?

Post by Moses Botbol »

Has anyone tried Quinta das Tecedeiras vintage 2003? I think this is their first vintage. Sounds like good stuff.

The importer had some wonderful Dao's available too.

I've had it and its a good mid term VP. I'd probably say in about 15 years it will be reaching its peak. If you can get it at a good price, its worth getting a few to enjoy young while the tops of the vintages mature in the cellar.

I'm guessing this stuff is about $300ish a case wholesale?

I assume Lucia poured it for you in Boston. I wrote a tasting note on it last year. Solid for the price.

She did last year, but I did not see it on the table this year; only the LBV. I liked some of her wine offerings as well.

Yes, sadly she wasn't pouring at the San Francisco event earlier this year or this one last week :( This is a producer to keep an eye on in the future. I think they can and will improve on their line-up in coming years, especially with some of the top end dry wines.

I have really enjoyed the 2004 Dao Sul "Quinta das Tecedeiras" Reserva which was fantastic. I still hope to try the 2003, which Lucia said was even better. I found their dry wines remarkably reasonably priced given the fine quality in the bottle.

Would have to agree. Time to place an order!
